We’re Hiring: Assistant Maintenance Manager
This role plays a key part in coordinating technicians, contractors, and schedulers while driving safety, cost control, and proactive maintenance outcomes across the business.
Working in Brisbane alongside the Maintenance Manager, you will help ensure assets are maintained to a high standard, compliance requirements are met, and maintenance activities are delivered efficiently and safely.
What You’ll Bring to the Table
You are a hands-on maintenance professional with strong leadership capability and a passion for safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.
What You’ll be Doing
- Support the leadership of both outsourced and in-house technicians and assist the scheduler with daily coordination
- Drive proactive maintenance practices (target >70%) to reduce breakdowns and reactive repairs
- Monitor maintenance costs and support achievement of annual budget targets, including reporting variances
- Ensure compliance with the Collins Foods Safety Management System across all maintenance activities
- Assist with investigations using modern Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methods and review repetitive failures
- Support training of employees in RCA and maintenance best practices
- Oversee contractor performance, ensuring all contractors are inducted, compliant, and meeting standards
- Maintain workflow processes for MEX P1–P5 work requests, ensuring timely updates and close-out
- Assist with preventative maintenance programs for restaurant equipment, HVAC, and electrical safety systems
- Support regulatory compliance, including pressure systems and statutory requirements
- Contribute to the equipment capital replacement program and participate in project works as required
- Prepare and assist in distributing monthly maintenance reports to stakeholders
- Facilitate effective communication between operations and maintenance teams
- Provide operational cover for other team members when required
Key Performance Indicators
- Maintain an effective contractor management system
- 100% of active maintenance contractors inducted and compliant (no more than 2 weeks overdue)
- Priority 1–4 work orders delivered within agreed SLAs
- Effective backlog management and adherence to reactive maintenance processes
- Maintenance costs maintained below 1.5% of sales or within budget (whichever is greater)

Are you passionate about maintenance excellence and safety, reliable and well organised, solutions-focused, with strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across operational teams?
You also bring: Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
- Electrical trade qualification
- Experience in Facilities Management
- Experience using CMMS systems (MEX highly regarded)
- Background in Quick-Service Restaurants (QSR) or similar asset-intensive environments
- Proven leadership and contractor management experience
- Strong understanding of maintenance processes, labour planning, and scheduling
- Budget management and cost control experience
- Knowledge of RCA and RCM methodologies
- Project management experience
- Lean experience is desirable
