The Role
The purpose of this role is to process fixed and intangible asset additions, disposals and transfers into the Australian fixed asset register on a timely basis and support the team with asset accounting and period-end tasks.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Process fixed and intangible asset additions, disposals and transfers into the fixed asset register on a timely basis.
- Assist the team with period end close procedures, journal entries and reporting for fixed and intangible assets, prepayments, and accruals.
- Provide invoice coding and checking support for capital and maintenance purchases.
- Perform period end balance sheet reconciliations, including Construction in Progress (CIP) accounts. Investigate and resolve queries.
- Maintain the integrity and accuracy of fixed and intangible asset registers.
- Collaborate with Collins departments outside of finance, such as construction, maintenance and operational department stakeholders, to ensure timely and accurate asset processing.
- Knowledge of accounting and tax depreciation rates.
- Work with the Asset Accountant in the preparation and collation of audit documentation, as well as help with resolving audit queries.
- Play a key role in driving system and process improvement opportunities.
- Maintain up to date process documentation.
- Assist the broader Finance Team with other period-end processes as required.
- Involvement in other finance projects as required.
About You
Skills & Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting & Finance, Commerce or similar (desirable, not essential)
- Previous experience working within an Accounting / Fixed Assets environment
- Demonstrated commercial experience (3+ years)
- Advances computer and MS skills, specifically within Excel
- Previous experience with JD Edwards desirable, but not essential
