 The Role

The Return-to-Work Coordinator will support the health and wellbeing of our employees through providing expert rehabilitation and injury management support.  This includes promotion of early intervention / recovery at work, adoption of best practice injury management strategies and compliance with legislative requirements. 

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Organisation

  • Provide prompt rehabilitation and return to work support for all work related and non-work-related injuries/illness for employees across Australia
  • Conduct work site visits where required to develop return to work plans
  • Document, coordinate and monitor the employee’s Return to Work/Suitable Duties Plans, in liaison with the injured/ill employee, treating professionals, Line Managers and insurer
  • Educate Line Managers in their roles and responsibilities for rehabilitation, ensure they are regularly informed of the employee’s current rehabilitation status and progress
  • Ensure all employees are advised about the Workplace Rehabilitation Policy and procedure as part of the induction process
  • Maintain the culture of continuous improvement through identifying and actioning opportunities for improvement.

Risk

  • Establish and maintain a network of suitable external Rehabilitation Service Providers who understand and support the rehabilitation program
  • Promote an efficient system for immediate reporting of injuries to enable early employee contact regarding rehabilitation and reporting to the insurer
  • Ensure the employee is informed of their entitlements and responsibilities and has access to appropriate information and resources including claim forms
  • Maintain confidential rehabilitation records
  • Manage the rehabilitation process in a confidential and sensitive manner
  • Ensure compliance with state legislation for workers’ compensation, Qld self-insurance and national rehabilitation. 

Results

  • Keep accurate and objective case notes for each employee undertaking rehabilitation that meet CFL specifications and state legislation requirements
  • Provide complete documentation to and work with state government auditors
  • Be precise with management of timeframes in rehabilitation cases, to ensure that legislative timelines are met and can be so demonstrated on audit
  • Maintain accurate data, ensure data integrity and conduct regular data analysis to inform business improvements.
  • Prepare monthly reports for key stakeholders

About You

Skills & Experience

  • National or multi-state experience in managing workers compensation claims.
  • Managing claims and meeting legislative requirements under Qld self-insurance licence.
  • Workplace rehabilitation experience and an evidence-based approach to proactive injury management, with knowledge of relevant state-based legislation
  • High level data management including accurate record keeping, data analysis and reporting and ensuring data integrity. Provision of work-place based rehabilitation and return to work
  • Experience in the provision of rehabilitation and injury management within an organisational structure
  • Understanding and application of safety principles for the provision of rehabilitation and injury management
