About the Role

As we continue to grow, we are seeking a talented Payroll Specialist to join our team and support our payroll operations. The Payroll Specialist will work closely with the Senior Payroll Manager to optimise and automate payroll systems and processes while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.

You will also take ownership of the following key duties and responsibilities:

  • Review and where required update payroll processes to ensure we are compliant with national and state-based legislation and regulations.
  • Ensure our payroll and time in attendance systems are aligned with relevant industrial instruments, payroll tax, superannuation, and leave.
  • Improve the effectiveness and efficiency of Collins’ wage compliance payroll reporting.
  • Regularly review payroll controls and implement improvements as required.
  • Develop testing processes to support the testing of new releases for Collins’ payroll and time in attendance systems.
  • Test the new releases for Collins’ payroll systems and implement necessary changes.
  • Create and maintain a calendar of key payroll dates including an effective reminder system.
  • Maintain the Payroll Issues Log to ensure resolution of matters in a timely manner.
  • Catalogue and maintain existing payroll exception and package reports and create new reports using Preceda Extractor, Crystal or Power BUI.
  • Manage system bugs / defects and enhancements with internal stakeholders or directly with external vendors as required; and
  • Assist in determining payroll systems are fit for purpose and facilitate high standards of compliance.

About You

Ideally you will possess qualifications in Payroll (TAPS or APA) or Human Resources, and/or proven experience in Award and Enterprise Agreement interpretation in a high-volume payroll processing environment (5,000+ employees). Experience with payroll and time in attendance configuration and testing is also highly regarded.

As the Payroll Specialist you will also bring to the role the following skills, experience, and attributes:

  • An ability to analyse and interpret payroll data and provide trend analysis.
  • Well-developed time management and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Solutions focused with a natural persuasion to deliver strong customer service.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Advanced MS Office skills and
  • Experience with payroll report writing using Crystal is highly desirable.
